Jan 11th
This morning my temperature was 100 degrees and this evening it was 100.3. This tells me that I am not quite ready yet. I am getting really lazy now though and like to lay on the couch all day. I get very thirsty because I am panting heavily and tend to dribble on the floor a bit - my owners don't seem to mind though.
Jan 12th
My temperature was 100.1 this morning and I must have drunk too much because all I did today was have to keep going out to use the bathroom. I had to go out nearly every hour. This evening my temperature was 100.5.
Jan 13th
Well my temperature still hasn't changed - it was 100.1 both this morning and this evening. I did have terrible wind today though and my owners had to light a few candles so they could stay in the room with me. I also had diarrhea, this just means that I am cleaning myself out and getting ready. If I wasn't so tired from all this laying around I would be getting really excited right about now.
Jan 14th
My temperature dropped a little this morning to 99.9 but no-one seems to think that this is wonderful! I am not feeling very hungry today and have hardly eaten anything. I did drink - just not as much as normal. This evening my temperature was back at 100.1 degrees. Any day now!
Jan 15th
Well my temperature dropped again. At 7am it was down to 98.9 and then they took it again at 9am and it was down to 98.5. This means we are within 24 hours of my babies arriving. Now it is time to get excited. I have taken myself into the dining room now - the couch is getting to high up for me for some reason - maybe because my belly is so large now? I am trying to make my bed and keep pulling these blankets around but I can't seem to get them just right. Maybe if I move this one again…. I am going to try laying down now - stretching out full length is the most comfortable today. I have to keep looking at my rear end - just in case. I am cleaning my privates a lot today - got to be ready. My panting is a lot calmer today and I need to get my rest in.
Jan 16th - whelping day
Well everyone has woken up now so I think I am going to have these puppies. My water broke at 7.05am and two puppies came out at 7.10am. This is because I have two tubes and the puppies come down each tube simultaneously. My first puppy is a little boy and the second is a little girl. I am so happy.
At 7.30 I had another little girl followed by another boy at 7.50am. My owners seem to be very happy with me and are giving me lots of love and attention right now. After 20 minutes rest and a short nap I have another little girl - at 8.10am.
I am tired so I am taking a rest now. Goodness - it is 11am already - best I get working again. I produce another little boy followed by a girl at 11.55 and one more little boy at 12.30.
My owners give me a small shot of Oxytocin and Calcium at 2.45 as they believe I am all done and want to make sure I am all cleaned out inside. Boy - do I have a surprise for them as I give birth to two more boys - one at 3.30 and the last one at 3.50pm.
This has been a wonderful, busy, hard day but I am so proud of my new family. My owners seem to be all tired out - all they did was hug me, cut cords and change papers!!
I am going to sleep now so my little ones can nurse and stay warm next to me.
Jan 17th - Day 1
Well all my new babies did very well through the night and have all been cleaned and weighed. They are all growing already and soon they will be big and running around. Their eyes will stay closed until they are about 10 days old and once that happens there will be no stopping them! I will leave my pups to go outside to the bathroom but it has to be a quick run as I cannot leave them for too long at any one time. I am so proud!
Jan 18th - Day 2
Most of my babies cords have dried up and they all have cute little belly buttons now. Even though they cannot see yet they have already learned to stay very close to me - when they are not nursing they like to snuggle up next to me by my tummy, or my legs and even by my face. I am eating like a small horse just to keep my strength up and my owners are feeding me very well indeed. Today I feel like a queen!
Jan 19th - Day 3
I took a little break today. After eating my second breakfast (in between breakfast and lunch for those of you who don't do this!) and going out to use the bathroom, I decided to spend a few minutes on the couch with my owners. It was very pleasant and relaxing but only lasted, as I said, for a few minutes. Then I heard my babies making noises and had to run back through to make sure they were ok. Of course, once I was there they all decided that they were hungry again as well, so, I stopped to nurse them for a while. My owner took a few more photos of us - she must think we are gorgeous:)
Jan 20th - Day 4
Today I had a bath. I was getting a little bit smelly - even by my own standards - so I had a nice warm bath and feel (and smell) a lot better now. My babies are starting to nurse in sets now. Some will start to nurse while others sleep and then they change over. This makes it a little easier on me and ensures that all of them get enough to eat. They are putting on weight every day.
Jan 21st - Day 5
The pups are nursing very well and giving me time to take longer breaks each day. I have spent quite a while on the couch today just hanging out and relaxing. I know that my pups are right next door and I can get to them whenver I need to, so I feel quite secure knowing that they are safe and sound, and warm. My owners are keeping a nice warm fire going and we have a small heater in our room as well - this will make sure no-one catches a cold. It is raining and quite chilly outside today so my bathroom breaks are very quick indeed - no point in staying out there and getting cold and wet.
Jan 22nd - Day 6
All of my pups were weighed today and they now range from 1 lb 9 ozs to 2 lbs 5 oz. This means that they are all growing well and should be putting on about 1 lb per week. I know that four of my babies have got good homes to go to already and this makes me very happy. I hope the new owners will stay in touch with my owners so we can see how they grow up.
Jan 26th - Day 10
Sorry I haven't written for a couple of days I have been so busy feeding my pups. They have all put on over a pound in weight and are steadily growing bigger and bigger every day. I only have another few weeks of nursing them, which is just as well, or there would be nothing left of me! In another week or so they will start to eat some solid food. They are all starting to crawl around now, even with their eyes closed, and they tend to get themselves lost and squeal like little cats asking for help to find their way back.
Jan 31st - Day 15
All my puppies now have both of their eyes open. Instead of commando crawling to get about they are starting to lift up on their back legs and walk properly. It will take them a few days to master this but they will be there soon enough. When I am nursing I now start off by sitting down for my pups, then I lay down. Eventually I will only stand for them for a few minutes - I have about another week or two left to nurse them and they will gradually eat more and more solid food.
Feb 2nd - Day 17
I was very naughty today! I went outside and chased a chicken. I caught it as well!! I didn't hurt it because I was only playing but my owners are not very happy with me because I am not supposed to do that. It was nice to be outside running again though.
Feb 4th - Day 19
The little pups started to eat some solid food today. My owners soaked puppy food in warm water and my babies crawled through it, played in it and even ate a bit of it. They will continue to eat small amounts each day and this will increase so that they will nurse less and less.
Feb 6th - Day 21
My owners weighed my babies today and they sure are growing. The largest boy was 5 lbs and 2 oz. He was only 1 lb 5 oz when he was born just three short weeks ago so he is putting on over a pound a week and the others aren't far behind him. Their noses are starting to elongate as well so they look more like wolfhound puppies instead of pugs!
Feb 8th - Day 23
My puppies are starting to play with each other now. It is only for short periods of time but they push each other over and chew on their brothers and sisters. Their teeth are coming through at the back but they are not biting me yet - or each other. That will follow soon I am sure.
